Richard J. Finley, Sr. 93, of Dauphin, PA went home to be with the Lord on Friday morning, June 14, 2024 at his home with his family by his side.
Born in Williamstown, July 11, 1930, a son of the late John Finley and Mary Grubb Finley Weaver. Richard was a graduate of the Girard College in Philadelphia.
He was a retired tool and die designer, retiring after 30 years with AMP Inc.
He was a member of the New Buffalo Alliance Church, Duncannon, and was currently attending services at the Grace Bible Fellowship Church, Harrisburg.
Richard belonged to the Central PA Rock and Mineral Club. He also was a Boy Scout leader in his younger years.
He enjoyed traveling and had numerous collections, including a stamp collection and rock collection. He would use the rocks he found to create unique pieces of jewelry, a hobby he greatly enjoyed. Richard was a very social person and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Above all else, family was everything to him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Carol and Susan Finley; a granddaughter, Kelly Moore; a brother, John Finley; a sister, Katherine Barnes.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 74 years, Laureen Magee Finley; two sons, Richard Finley Jr. and his wife Beverly, Nevada, and Robert Finley and his wife Alice, Dauphin; one brother, Warren Weaver, Williamstown; a sister, Mary Stover, South Carolina; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great great grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home. Viewing will be held from 10-11 at the chapel.
