Roger Kohr Obituary

Roger A. Kohr, 58, of Enola, PA, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, May 2, 2022 at his home.

Born in Hershey, December 21, 1963, he was the son of the late Earl F. and Betty J. Romberger Kohr. Roger was a 1981 graduate of Cumberland Valley High School. He also attended Harrisburg Area Community College, where at the age of 16, became an EMT, and then went on to complete his Paramedic I and II certifications.

Roger's life revolved around the protection and wellbeing of others, as public and family safety were hallmarks throughout his entire life. In addition to serving as the Public Information Officer (PIO) for Cumberland County for over a decade, he also served as the Director of the 911 Communication Center for York County and worked with many other emergency services departments to serve the public as a paramedic and firefighter in the greater Harrisburg area.

Over his long career, Roger continued to work in the public safety arena as Sales Account Executive for Kova Corporation, Pennsylvania Sales Manager for Harris Corporation, and M/A-COM Area Sales Manager for the state of Pennsylvania. He even found ways to assist with public safety during his 13 years with Vanguard Cellular, where he also learned valuable management skills that served him well over his lifetime.

First and foremost, Roger was a patriot who loved God and this country. He enjoyed country music, cooking in his instant pot, firearms, model trains, the Florida Keys, and educating others on preparing for emergencies. He was a proud supporter of President Trump, the NRA, and along with his wife, animal rescue and feline fostering, which was a big part of his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an aunt, Jean Malnick, mother- and father-in-law, Carol and Earl Miller.

Surviving are his wife, Gayle C. Miller Kohr; his sister; Marsha A. Leonard (fiance Mike Picola), Camp Hill, one nephew; Daulton J. Leonard (Rachael), Bethlehem, two brothers-in-law; Chris Miller (Jennifer), Sinking Springs and Wesley Miller (Olive), Mine Hill, NJ, three cousins, Rich (Kathe) Malnick, Sheri (Irv) Moyer and Sharon (Barb) Malnick.

A celebration of Roger's life will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 5:30 pm until 9:30 pm at the Good Hope Fire Station in Hampden Township, PA.   (1200 Good Hope Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050).
