Ronald Rautzahn Obituary

Ronald W. "Ron" Rautzahn, 88, of Williamstown went to heaven Friday afternoon, March 17, 2023, at the Northern Dauphin Nursing and Rehab, Millersburg,

He was born in Williamstown, December 29, 1934, a son of the late John and Mae Zimmerman Rautzahn.  He was a 1952 graduate of the former Williamstown High School where he was class secretary, played basketball, football and baseball.

He retired from the New Cumberland Army Depot as a System Supply Analyst Supervisor where he worked for 40 years.  

Ron was a member of the Williamstown United Methodist Church, Williamstown and Orwin fire companies, Williamstown American Legion, Post 239, the  Orwin Gun Club and the Dauphin County Anglers and Conservationists.

Being a great sportsman who loved fishing, hunting and archery he had a collection of many mounts in his huge den. Gardening was a hobby, growing tomatoes and peppers to give to his friends and neighbors. Ron took great pride in the appearance of his home. He also enjoyed helping at the veteran's day picnic and fish events at Stoney Park in Clarks Valley.

He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Penn State and the North Carolina Tar Heels. He enjoyed bowling at the former Shop and Play and collected many trophies.  

Ron was very involved in the WYAA where he coached, managed, and umpired baseball for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Louise Machamer, Joan Rodichok and her husband Charles.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, his high school sweetheart, Margaret "Peg" Adams Rautzahn, his two daughters, Lisa Barnhardt, Mechanicsburg and Lora (Dave) Miller of Woodbridge, VA, three granddaughters; Aubrey(John) Dolbear, Philadelphia, Austin (Ryan) McNeely, Haverstown, and Ciara Miller of Woodbridge, VA, a grandson, Sage Miller of Woodbridge, VA. 3 great granddaughters, Lilly and  Maisie Dolbear, and Evelyn "Edde" McNeely,  a brother John Rautzahn and his wife Anna of Williamstown, brother-in-law, Ronald Machamer of Williamstown, numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Williamstown United Methodist Church, with Pastor Amanda Bressler officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to the Williamstown American Legion, 123 West Market Street, Williamstown, PA  17098.
