Scott David Maurer, 50, of Williamstown, passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly Sunday, September 12th at his home.
Born in Pottsville, December 26, 1970, a son of the late Mark and Marion Nolen Maurer. Scott was a 1989 graduate of the Pine Grove Area High School, where he was a standout pitcher on the baseball team.
Scott was employed as a Waste Water Operator with the Williamstown Water Authority. He was a social member of the Williamstown American Legion, and could often be found helping his wife in the kitchen. Scott also enjoyed bowling and belonged to a bowling league.
His love for the game of baseball was second to none, he instilled that same love and passion of the game into his sons, who he was extremely proud of. He coached his boys in Northern Lebanon Little League, Williams Valley Teeners and Schuylkill West All Stars. He enjoyed being on the "It doesn't get any better then this fantasy baseball league" Any conversation with Scott would always be centered around his love for his family and game of baseball.
Surviving are his loving wife of twenty years, Jody A. Fox Maurer; his two sons, Dawson S. Maurer and Owen B. Maurer both at home; a step-daughter, Rebecca Witkowski, Berrysburg; step-son, Terry Mack, Jr., Lebanon; his sister, Lynn Babb, Florida; two step-granddaughters, Olyvia and Madelynn. a step-grandson, Anthony Jr.; a niece and nephew, Brittney and T.J. Babb; Many dear friends.
A Celebration of Scott's life will be held on Saturday, September 18th at 12 noon from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Tower City. Visitation will be from 10:30 - 12 noon at the chapel. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow at the Williamstown American Legion.
