Steven M. "Snowball" Barder, 61, of Lykens passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at UPMC-Harrisburg.
Born in Lykens, June 27, 1961, a son of the late Edward and Edith Shomper Barder. He was a 1980 graduate of the Upper Dauphin Area High School. Following graduation, he served with the Pennsylvania National Guard. In 1984 he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving five years before being honorably discharged in 1989. He was stationed on the USS Ranger.
Steven was a valuable asset in the day-to-day operations at North Road Service Center, Elizabethville, where he worked as a technician for more than twenty years.
He was a life member of the American Legion. His pets meant the world to him. He could often be found walking his dog along the Rattling Creek in Lykens.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Glenn Barder.
Surviving are a sister, Sharon Barder, Elizabethville; three brothers, Edward Barder, Lykens, Clark Barder, Wiconisco and Brian Barder and his wife Sheila, Elizabethville; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc, Tower City, with Pastor Annette Shutt officiating. Burial with full Navy Military honors will be held in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Viewing will be from 10-11 am at the chapel.
