Terry Joseph Ney, aged 87, formerly of Tower City, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, in Tucson AZ, where he had resided for the past 40 years.
Born May 7, 1937, in Tower City, a son of the late Joseph Ney Sr.
Terry was a 1955 graduate of Porter Tower High School. He went on to business school in Johnstown, PA and worked for Bethlehem Steel for 20 years. After his retirement from Bethlehem Steel, Terry then moved to Arizona with his family where he resided the rest of his life.
Terry was cherished by his entire family. He delighted in playing chess with his daughters and being with his 3 grandchildren. He enjoyed working on his home and he had a passion for investing in the stock market. Known for his sharp wit and cheeky comebacks, Terry had a great sense of humor and was a social butterfly who enjoyed striking up a conversation with everyone he came in contact with. He loved sharing stories about his travels around the world and was adept at fixing anything that needed repair. He also loved the simple things in life and always loved sharing a meal with his loved ones over his favorite dishes of brownie hamburgers, sauerkraut, sausage, Lebanon baloney, pumpkin pie, tomato sandwiches, and red beet eggs. Terry was exceptionally intelligent and loved learning about how things worked, and he played a pivotal role in guiding his daughters towards their careers in industrial design and engineering.
In his later years, Terry lived life on his own terms, embracing independence and happiness. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law Joan (Ney) and Edward Gillespie, Gettysburg, and a sister-in-law, Marlene K. (Ney), Dauphin.
Surviving are a brother, Joseph Ney Jr. (Mary) of Dauphin, a sister, Patricia (Ney) Underkoffler (Harold), Tower City, his daughters, Jane Hong of New Jersey and Susan Chung of Arizona, his grandchildren Ethan, Eva, and Maya, along with several nieces and nephews.
Though our hearts are heavy with sorry, we find solace in knowing that Terry is now at peace and no longer suffering. In accordance with his final wishes, Terry's remains were laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery, where they were interred with his father and the Ney family.
The Dimon Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Tower City, was in charge of local arrangements.
