Theresa P. Steinbacher, 70, of Halifax passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. She was a cherished grandmother and her children’s best friend.
She was the daughter of the late Glen and Edith Sitler.
Theresa is survived by her husband, John Steinbacher, her son, Kenneth (Kendra) Lebo of Halifax, and her daughters Becca Lebo and Jennifer Sinsabaugh both of Halifax. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kienna, Brielle, and Tennyson Sinsabaugh, Reileigh (Harley) Lehman; Amyah, Gabriela, and Ava Lebo, and Gage Ferree; all who she was proud of and loved immensely. Theresa is also survived by her siblings Yvonne (Scott) Shadle, Glenda (Sherm) Warfel, Rob (Mary) Sitler, and Tim (Lisa) Sitler and numerous nieces and nephews.
Theresa was preceded in death by her grandson Hunter Ferree and sister Helen Adelle Aikey.
Theresa was known for her loud voice, but mostly for her contagious laughter. She loved her family fiercely. Anyone who came in contact with her would remember mostly getting “stubbed” by her half-arm or being sprayed with a water bottle when she felt you were being a bit rambunctious. She lived life with humor and left you shaking your head or rolling with laughter. Her family will remember many Thanksgiving feasts that ended in a food fight. She spent many nights with family playing cards or putting puzzles together. Theresa enjoyed riding her 3-wheeler and camping, and spent many summers with her children, family and friends, making memories camping or riding in the coal hills. Theresa spent 2 decades babysitting many children in the area. John and Theresa spent 42 memorable years together (24 years married). They can be remembered dancing at parties or get-togethers. She will be missed by all who loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family.
