Thomas G. McCready, a lifelong resident of Williamstown, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, April 17, 2026 on his 69th birthday surrounded by his family at UPMC - Harrisburg.
Born in Harrisburg on Wednesday April 17, 1957, a son of the late Donald "Gus" and Marian Carvell McCready. He was a 1975 graduate of Williams Valley High School.
In 1978, Tom began working for Lewis Industrial Supply, Harrisburg, where he was a loyal employee for the last 48 years.
He dedicated his life to the Williamstown community, joining Liberty Hose Company #1 in 1979. He was a life member, currently serving as Chief 24-2, Vice President, and President of the Relief Association. Tom's commitment to the fire company was second to none.
He was a member of the former Williamstown United Methodist Church and the Williamstown Jaycee's. Tom was also a current member of the Williamstown American Legion. He could often be found watching the Philadelphia Eagles and John Wayne movies. Above all else, his family was the center of his world. Tom always looked forward to day trips with Wendy and snuggling his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Wendy Klinger McCready; his daughter, Sarah Nyer and her husband Aaron; his sons, Don McCready and his fiancee Penny Johns, and Logan McCready and his partner Mary Staub; seven grandchildren he adored, Samuel, Olivia, Sidney, Autumn, Evangeline, Scott, and Amelia; his brother, John McCready and his wife Elise; his sister, Carol Sitler and her husband Rich; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Tom's Life will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Tower City, with Pastor Luke Heald officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 - 2:00 PM from the chapel. In remembrance of Tom, please come dressed in his favorite color red or any Eagles apparel. Following the services, a procession will leave the funeral home to the Liberty Hose Company #1 where there will be a time of fellowship and meal.
