William Loveland Obituary

William R. Loveland, 83, of Hegins, passed away early Sunday morning, May 31, 2026.

Bill was born and raised in Media, a son of the late William C. and Helen Sallusto Loveland, and he graduated from Media High School.

As a teenager he worked cooking in the kitchen at the Townhouse in Media, where the owner took great interest in him and wanted to mentor him into full time work after school.

In his free time, he could be found at the pool hall learning from some of the best.

After graduation, he decided to join the Navy and spent 20 years in the service. During his twenties, he took an interest in archery hunting and started spending more time at his Uncle’s farm on the weekends in Ringtown. He soon became a country lover and avid outdoorsman and talked Joan into taking the leap and moving to the country.

After moving to Hegins and retiring from the service at the age of 38, he chased another dream- He went to truck driving school and took a job with Pennsylvania Forest Products. He would drive for them until retirement. Bill became an Avid Bass fisherman in his later years, buying a bass boat and entering tournaments across PA. During retirement Bill returned to the pool circuit and was member of a couple different pool leagues. His team competed at high levels and he loved his time with his teammates.

Bill had a big personality and a big smile and laugh to match. Everyone loved him!

He was a fun dad and wasn’t afraid to do crazy things , but when he became a grandfather, all rules changed and they were barely allowed to play on a swing set in front of him.

As the Great grandchildren came along, his eyes would light up when he saw them and his eyes would fill with tears.

Bill and Joan had 2 wonderful children but suffered unimaginable loss when their only son succumbed to cancer at the age of 15.

Finally after all these years, he gets to see his beautiful Billy again, both of them happy, healed and whole in the presence of Jesus.

In addition to his parents, William and Helen Loveland, he was preceded in death by his son, William F. Loveland; one brother, Thomas Loveland; one sister, Dianna Kerestus.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Joan P. Dowrick Loveland; a daughter, Joanne Rabuck (Dennis); three granddaughters, Ellie Weaver (Jeremy), Laura Spickler (Luke), and Katie Weachock (Cole); six great grandchildren, Penelope Weaver, Skye Spickler, Asher Weaver, Walker Weachock, Lilly Weachock, and Josiah Weaver; two sisters, Sandy Bertulis and Denise Loveland.

Services will be held on Monday June 8, 2026 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Tower City, with Pastor Norman Lawrence officiating. Viewing will be from 10-11 at the chapel. Bill will be laid to rest in the Friedens Cemetery, Hegins.
