William F. Smeltzer, Jr.

William F. Smeltzer, Jr., 75, of Lykens, passed away Thursday evening, April 20, 2023 at his home with his daughters holding his hands, surrounded by his family.

Born in Wiconisco, October 2, 1947, a son of the late William Sr. and Ellen Parson Smeltzer. He attended Wiconisco Area High School.

Bill was last employed at the Walmart Distribution Center Warehouse.

He was a life member of the Lykens Fire Company and the Gratz VFW.

In his younger years, Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a fan of NASCAR racing and enjoyed collecting things. Bill's daughters were his world.

Surviving are his three daughters, Debra Henninger (Travis Bixler), Hegins, Dawn Wenrich, Lykens, and Heather Updegrove (Jeff), Pine Grove; a son, William Smeltzer III (Amy), Saint Clair; nine grandchildren, Mark, Alexsis, Matthew, Krista, Devon, Kyra, Dylan, Zachary, and Mackenzie; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Lesher (John), Gratz, and Mary Ellen Witmer (Roger), Millersburg; nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Friday, April 28, 2023 at 4:00 PM from the Patriotic Order Sons of America Cemetery, Lykens with his nephew Pastor John Lesher officiating. Immediately following graveside services, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Lykens Fire Company Social Hall.
