When I decided to join the Marines my Dad (Topper) would often point to people in our small community that are Marines. There was Mr. Shomper . . . standing proud wearing his Marine Corps hat, sharing a story or two, and influencing the little boy that stopped for gas or a car wash with his Dad. Honor and courage are how I remember Carl. Semper Fi.
