David L. Koppenhaver, 57, of Orwin, passed away unexpectedly Monday at his home.
 
Born in Pottsville, July 23, 1958 a son of the late Glenn D. Sr. and Jacqueline Masarik Koppenhaver.
 
He graduated from Williams Valley High School and South Schuylkill Area Vo-Tech in 1976.
 
Dave was Operations Supervisor at Kohl's in Pottsville.
 
Dave was a member of Muir Volunteer Fire Company #1 where he served as Fire Chief for over 20 years. Dave was also a member of the Orwin, Lykens and Wiconisco Fire Companies. He also served as Emergency Management Coordinator for Porter Township for the last ten years.
 
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of thirty five years, Lorie Jane Romberger Koppenhaver, June 20, 2014.
 
Surviving are his son, Adam  Koppenhaver (Ashley), Williamstown; daughter Rebecca Koppenhaver, Tower City; a brother Glenn Koppenhaver Jr. (Betty Ann), Orwin;  grandson Samuel and granddaughter Makenna; Mother-in-law June Romberger, Muir; his nephew Donald Koppenhaver and his beloved Dachshund, Spike. Dave is also survived by many dear friends including his firefighter and Kohl's family.
 
Celebration of Dave's life will be held Thursday, June 23rd at 11 am from the Grace United Methodist Church, Muir with his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Monica Romberger officiating.  Burial will be in the Methodist Cemetery, Muir.  Visitation will be from 10-11 at the church.
