L. Mae Cortez, 88, of Clarks Valley, Tower City, passed away Sunday at the Tremont Health and Rehab.
 
Born in Clarks Valley, July 6, 1926, a daughter of the late Walter and Laura Kohler Minnich.
 
Mae was a graduate of the former Porter High School.
 
She was a member of the Muir Foursquare Gospel Church and the Tremont Senior Center.
 
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, 1990; a son David, 1989; twin sister, Lauretta Reedy; two brothers, Charles and Russell Minnich.
 
Surviving are four daughters, Darlene Wollyung, Tower City; Avalon  Wagner, Muir; Donna Reiner, Halifax and Wanda Cortez, Clarks Valley; one son, Steven Cortez, Millersburg;  13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters; one brother, Harry Minnich, Tower City; three sisters, Lorraine Abrams and Joan Miller, both of Tower City and Janet Shutt, Clarks Valley. Nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 7th at 11:00 am from the Muir Foursquare Gospel Church.  Viewing will be from 10-11 am at the church. Burial will be Friday, May 8th at 9:00 am from Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.  Memorial donations in Mae's name should be made to Tremont Health and Rehab Activity Fund, 44 Donaldson Road, Tremont, PA 17981 or Compassionate Care Hospice, 363 PA-100 Allentown, PA 18106.
