My deepest sympathy to your family. You are in my prayers at this sad time. I met "Janice" exactly 45 years ago this month (during the Hurricane Agnes flood), when we were hospital roommates at the former Good Samaritan Hospital in Pottsville. I was only 16 at the time, so I was scared about being in the hospital, but Mr. & Mrs. Black were so very kind to me that it made me feel much better. They would get me milkshakes at the hospital snack bar! Before we were discharged, "Janice" and I exchanged addresses. For many years after that, we sent each other Christmas cards. Her Christmas card was usually the very first one that I received each year. It was always so good to hear from her. Sadly, we eventually lost touch with each other, but I always hoped and prayed that she was doing well. She was a wonderful person, and I will never forget her. May she and Mr. Black rest in peace!

Dear Joe and Patti, So sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She was a gracious and kind woman. Although I haven't seen her for years, she was often in my thoughts. When passing your homestead, I would wonder how she was doing and coping with " HER GOLDEN YEARS". Time goes by so rapidly that it seems like only yesterday when we were enjoying our childhood/school years. Now, it is our turn to " enjoy" the GOLDEN YEARS. Please accept my condolennces and may you Mother RIP. JOANNE

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I sit here thinking back to one of the last times I spoke with her. It was at church in Williamstown, I said, Mrs. Black how are you? She told me to call her Janice. I said no can do, my mom would reach down and slap me for not showing her respect. She smiled and told me she would give me a pass, I could call her Mrs. Black.
