Regina T. Hazuda-Smith

May 13, 1917 ~ May 6, 2016 (age 98) 98 Years Old


Regina T. Smith, 98, passed away peacefully on Friday evening May 6th, 2016 at her home in Bonita Springs, FL  after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Regina was the eldest daughter of Michael and Julia Hazuda of Williamstown. After graduating from high school Regina attended nursing school at Harrisburg Hospital in Harrisburg where she received her RN degree.  Regina’s nursing career spanned over 40 years, the last 20 serving as Head Nurse on the Pediatric unit at North Arundel Hospital in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

Regina will be remembered as a selfless, caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She was a  member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Sebring, FL where she was a Eucharistic minister and volunteer preparing and delivering meals to shut ins and those unable to care for themselves. In addition, she served as President of the Columbiette’s for over 10 years while living in Sebring, FL.

Regina loved to cook and garden in her spare time.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of making even strangers feel at home.  She never hesitated to come to the aid of her family and friends with her big heart and kind words.

Regina is preceded in death by her previous husbands Arthur Ciamacco and Joseph Smith   three brothers, Rev. Andrew Hazuda; George and Michael Hazuda  Three sisters, Marie Buggy, Juliana Hazuda RSM, Ann Hazuda RSM, cousin, Mary Bordash.

 She is survived by one sister, Julia Bowerman of Harrisburg and two daughters, Maryann Krass of Bonita Springs, FL and Julia Bearstler of Chicago, IL as well as several stepchildren, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 9:30am to 10:30 am Saturday, May 14th  at the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home Inc. Tower City.   A prayer service will follow with the Rev. C. Anthony Miller. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Williamstown.
