Timothy D. Schaffner, 57, of Muir, passed away Tuesday night at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Pottsville, October 30, 1958, a son of Shirley Witmer Schaffner, Orwigsburg and the late Dean Schaffner.

Tim was a 1976 graduate of Williams Valley High School where he excelled in sports, earning all county in Football, Basketball and Baseball. He attended Shippensburg University where he played Basketball.  He was a graduate of MTA truck driving school.

Tim was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, where he was driver license examiner.

He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Orwin.  He was a member of the Schuylkill County Chapter PIAA Basketball officials for 30 years, where he refereed  District 11 Boys and Girls Basketball.

Tim's entire life revolved around family, sports and the outdoors.  

Surviving in addition to his mother, his wife of 38 years, Sandy Kolva Schaffner; his two children he was extremely proud of, Rian Schaffner (Erin), Elizabethville and Jordin Williams (Curtis), Dover, Delaware; his five grandsons who he adored and enjoyed every minute with, Tarrance, Braylon and Prestin Williams; Caleb and Tyler Schaffner; a sister, Letitia Reiser (Kim Uranko), Pottsville. Nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 3rd at 11:00 am from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc, Tower City with Rev. Maureen Duffy-Guy. Burial will be in the St. Peter's Cemetery, Orwin. Viewing will be from 9-11 at the chapel.  In lieu of flowers donations in Tim's name should be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110.
